Car buying is so stressful for me but I felt so at ease shopping at CarMax. Daniel was so helpful as we looked and test drove a few cars we were interested in. It is so refreshing to be treated like a human being and not a dollar sign. My fiancé and I are so happy with our car shopping experience at CarMax and our consultant Daniel!
Went online and received an offer. I really figured when I took the car in they would nit pick the car and drop the offer, but Carmax accepted the offer code and we were in and out within in about 1.5 hours. They called the financial institute and got the payoff. And cut me a check for the difference in the offer and payoff right there. No waiting. Really a good experience.
Overall it was a great experience I was able to drive off the lot with a beautiful suv that I was proud to say was mine. Leandra literally did everything in her powers to get me into a vehicle. And not to also mention the full DMV services there on site which saves a great deal of time ,Great customer service from the time I walked in till the time I drove off . I cannot thank the team members of CarMax and Mrs.Leandra enough I am truly grateful.
Sales woman I had was not very helpful, she was suppose to have a car shipped but never did that and the car was sold by the time it was suppose to be at my location. Overall I did get a vehicle that I am okay with but the experience was very stressful and I did not feel my sales was appreciated. In the future I probably will not come back to CarMax unfortunately.
Three years ago I wrote this review - Great place to buy a car. The most enjoyable stress free process I have ever experienced. No heavy handed sells tactics, very friendly, and courteous. They are also very knowledgable. The sales associate Mark was amazing and made the process as hassle free as possible. I definitely recommend them. Today 6/24/22 I had the pleasure of working with Darius and he made trading my car in and getting the new one so easy. He was very patient with me even though I wasnt sure I was ready to sell me car. He even came in on his day off to take care of me and make sure I got my car once I finally decided. No pressure. He left it up to me. I cannot say enough good about Carmax. I am a customer for life.
The lady Ms.Lynn was very nice and professional, however the lovely car I picked out is roach infested and I am just in shock that they really had this car on the lot available. Once I return this car tomorrow I will never use this location again! And then you call this number they are asking you to call for updates and they leave you on hold for 30 minutes. I’m over it.
Carmax was hands down the best decision I’ve made for selling my vehicle. Matthew provided amazing customer service, which made my experience smooth & positive. I would recommend Carmax to anyone who is looking for a fair & beneficial profit when selling their vehicle.
My experience at Carmax Jacksonville, FL Blanding, was extremely frustrating. The staff were inexperienced, and incompetent. First, I talked by phone to a Carmax salesman and half way thru he had to leave and gave me another salesman (Matt). I was purchasing a car and also selling my vehicle to Carmax. I gave my financial info to Matt was approved for loan and agreed on price for my car. My home delivery was scheduled for 48 hrs. Later and also my car would be picked up. The appointed time came and went and Carmax never showed up or called. Matt never followed thru and my new car was on a truck going to Athens GA, instead of my home in Jacksonville FL. I called Carmax and spoke to a manger (Tom) who said he would find out what happened and I later learned my car wasnt put on hold or scheduled for delivery and everything done for both cars had been cancelled because Matt didnt do the paperwork. Tom was able to get my new car returned to Jacksonville, FL after two weeks. Again, I had to give my financial info to Tom, so they could do another credit check and redo my paperwork. This time the interest rate was higher. Tom said that CARMAX in Jacksonville would contact me regarding my new delivery date and pick up. An employee did call and said she had to do all my financial paperwork again. So I gave her my info again to run and she said my interest rate would be the 3.4. I also had a lifetime FL tag on my vehicle and just wanted that transferred to my new car which I had discussed with sales woman on the phone . She said that would be fine. I was than charged incorrectly over $300 for a new tag. The finance charge was also changed to 3.9 percent. Last week the Blanding Carmax finance office said they would send me a refund for the overcharge on my tag (so far nothing has happened). At this point I know that will be another problem. Nothing was easy with my purchase and I would NOT recommend Carmax in Jacksonville, FL.
If I could give less, I would. These people steal other peoples property. They are rude and I wouldn’t trust them with any business to be honest. My husband left his sunglasses at this Carmax, he called and was told they had them, he went up there and he was told they were gone. They made up some Spiel about someone else coming to claim the glasses within less then an hour of my husband leaving.. (the same color, brand, etc. )Very disappointing that they handled it the way they did.They also offered 3 thousand dollars less than Duval Ford down the street!
Jordan our Salesman was awesome. He took care of everything no probs. Even though theyre computer kept glitching. He was supposed have dinner with his lady but he got us taken care of first. Everything else was great. Professional and prompt to attend to anything we needed. Except one thing...The Big @ss Bow was ridiculously huge!🤣
The sales person was was nice to us. No one ever showed us a written copy of the finance agreement with Carmax just the amount of the loan. We did not see all expenses that were added into the contract. For example I noticed there was a piece of paper on the wall that said there was a three or $400 addition to the sales price of the car Carmax ads in. I wonder what other expenses we weren’t told about upfront. I was completely disgusted with the delivery of the vehicle I had asked twice if it was going to be prepared for pick up. I was told yes I got thevehicle to my home which was 80 miles away. I quickly found out after a rain shower that there was absolutely no wax on the exterior of the vehicle. I had to call the sales associate they finally agreed to $100 reimbursem*nt for wax to the exterior only. Even though there is a Carmax in my hometown I still had to jump through all the hoops to set this up. I am still waiting for acknowledgment seven days after submission that the check has been sent I’ve heard nothing. I don’t expect when you spend $50,000 on a vehicle that you have to chase some thing as silly as a wax job
We had a really great experience! We brought in 2 cars to get appraised and we had our quotes within the hour! We didnt expect to buy a car that day, but we managed to find exactly what we were looking for with a great price tag. Darius helped us out so much and honestly, was fantastic. His customer service is way above par.
After hearing CarMax brag about their rigorous inspections, I asked for a car to be shipped to a nearby store. I waited 5 days. I was prepared to buy it until looking at the tires. The edges of the front tires were bald and the tires appeared to be starting to dry rot. The edge of the front tire was worn all the way down. Since the middle of the tire supposedly had 4 mm of tread left, the manger said it met DOT regulations and they would not replace. I walked away as I did not consider that tire to be safe. What good is it to inspect a car and not correct any problems? I would have paid a premium for a used car at CarMax but not if their standards of care are so low.
Worst experience ever. Had so many problems from my car having issues to warranties not covering stuff to them just adding extra money to my acct. The mechanic dept is a joke they never knew what was wrong with my car.
I initiated a car search with CarMax online and within 3 days, my amazing car was delivered right to my residence. The CarMax Agents were awesome, no pressure tactics, very clear about the qualities and history of the cars considered. Everything, from shopping, financing, paperwork was all done online without me setting a foot on a car lot. Best car purchase experience Ive ever had.

The process and sequence for finding, buying and selling online was pretty solid.There were two issues that were made worse by giving us the impression that we werent taken seriously and were ignored....I had just had a brand new OEM convertible top installed for close to $1500 about 2 months prior to selling the car to Carmax. I wasnt sure when entering the online data how I could input the information about the new top. The after market modification online entry didnt seem correct to me since it was an OEM top. In a text conversation to set up the in-person Carmax visit I mentioned the new top and was told I could bring that up when we brought the car to Carmax. I mentioned the top to our agent when we arrived at Carmax at the start of the process and was told Ill look into it. Later, when I asked again, I was told Carmax doesnt usually give credit for an after market modification. Pretty obvious looking into it hadnt occurred.When I reviewed the SUV online that we were purchasing, the dime sized off-color ding on the passenger door didnt show itself. I asked if they could apply some touch up paint and was told again Ill look into it. When I asked again, as we were coming close to completing the sales agent process, I was told It would probably not match well and could make things worse. Pretty sure that answer meant our request was not looked into.The license plate was placed on the car we purchased loosely using screws that were too big for the holes holding the license plate and were not screwed all the way in. On the way home we heard a rattling noise from the back of the SUV and found that the license plate had scratched the area around it due to the loose screws.Im going to have to get the touch up handled myself for the plate and ding and Im going to have to find and apply the correct size screws to the license plate before I can drive it.The transaction included the sale of a $13,600 car and the purchase of a $26,000 SUV. If the on-site agent had said she looked into it but there is nothing she can do, that would have satisfied us but the promise of a follow up and the non-answer was dismissive.3 stars instead of 2 because all in all we like the SUV we purchased.
Dealing with any automotive dealer is always a hassle. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I received an online quote for my vehicle and didnt want the hassle of listing and showing the vehicle. When I brought in my vehicle to sell, I was fully expecting to have to negotiate the price that was quoted. Surprise, surprise, Carmax stuck to the price quoted. The only way that they could improve is to explain the process to the customer. It took about 2 hours from start to finish.
Well it started off easy and simple at purchase time, then went south, far south. Communication was not good at all. Car was in Maryland and I paid to have it shipped to Florida. Two weeks and no calls. Then car arrives but I cant go see it or test drive it because it arrives without a title. Another week goes by and Im calling every few days. No title has arrived. I am now in a rental car because I had no idea this process would be this long. Finally called corporate because I was done with this horrible experience, well you need to put at least an hour aside for that call. The hold times at corporate are horrendous. So about a month has passed and I am able to get the car. I go to my location and boom a hidden fee pops up of course. Then I go to leave and ask them why a paper plate, where is the actual tag? I am told they still do not have title yet so I will be leaving with a temp tag and title. Ok fine at this point. Now I have a temp tag and title thats about to expire in 2 days. No calls to me so once again I call them. They say oh sorry we still didnt receive the title so we are going to overnight you another temp tag. Thats where I am now. So my experience overall has not been pleasant. Communication on their end is absolutely terrible.
SUPER quick. He did upsell me on the MaxCare. Although, it was totally appropriate and offered much more than the remaining factory warranty! He was so nice, laid back, down to earth, and most importantly understanding. That man should definitely paid more, because you cannot put a price on his hospitality. I really really hope he sells me my next vehicle.
Good evening I wish to share my less than good experience with my interactions with car max . I decided to go with someone else for my purchase of a newer car . My experience at Carmax was less than desirable The sales person to me was the biggest turn off her name is Leandra (I don’t recommend)her high pressure tactics is unacceptable and I will try my best to share text with you at the end of the review. I only gave 2 stars because of her honesty when it came to the preparation of the car she told me they wasn’t going to detail the car and basically just wash it . I thank her for that honesty. To me she was worried more about collecting the transfer fee of the vehicle which I was most interested in. then she was selling me the vehicle . I understand now why she kept telling me before I could even see the car I must pay the transfer fee. She knew if I got the chance to see the car 1st that I wouldn’t have paid the fee . She was right I wouldn’t have after seeing it I was no longer interested in that particular vehicle the paint and trim was heavily oxidized and really unacceptable for the price they was asking of 26,000 as she can see on my face that my excitement turned to disappointment I have went through the approval process and everything and she never offered to help me find another vehicle. I believe that they don’t get paid by commission so there’s really no incentive really sell a car. That’s the feeling I got. I told her I would need a few days to make a decision and I guess that’s not how they do things they want you to sign paperwork then decide and as far as the interest rate on the financing it was 2 to 3% more than two other dealers were charging hope this helps you.not enough room to post all the text related to my intentions with this sales associates
I believe I have been treated poorly by this Carmax. When I bought the car, they agreed to touch up the paint on the hood. I havent had my car for a week, and counting. Salesman, Michael Coefield, says he cant help, you have to deal with the service dept. Tony Hudson, customer service advisor says he cant help get my car back because they send it out to get painted. Turning out badly for me.
I had a mostly positive experience here. I purchased my car at the other Jax location but this one had better service availability. I brought my car in for two warranty issues. They had to send it to a dealership for the repairs but I eventually got my car back with the issues repaired at no cost. They covered a rental car during the entire period. My service advisor (I think it was Tony) was great throughout the process.Im taking one star off though because the service department was frequently difficult to reach by phone.
Came to sell my car, no pressure to buy, got a good price and didnt have to haggle. was in and out (I made appt beforehand online in like 15 seconds) in under 2 hours, and it seemed pretty busy that weekend. I was impressed, and the staff was all super nice and understanding. Much different than any dealership Ive ever been to.

The whole process was seamless and amazingly easy. I received an Internet quote and made an appointment. My car was inspected and I was offered the same amount as the internet offer. The paperwork was quickly completed by a very pleasant staff person and I was out the door.
Carmax offers repairs within so many days of purchase. I have had to hold them to that and they have been nothing but amazing in their customer service and quality of repairs. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend to everyone. Toni and Steph are who I worked with multiple times.
Michael, Sierra, and Amy were very helpful and patient with me during my first car buying purchase. When my car started having some issues, Tony and Marilyn in the service department did not give me any hassle, were polite and covered the repairs under warranty. These individuals are why I knew I made the right decision to go to Carmax, thank you guys!
Everything went smoothly, we appreciated that the process was great. Cars were great, sales man, appointment. Closing and the rest of the personnel too. I took a star off because we made an appointment to buy 2 cars and we think they had a least a day or two there, but you could tell that the cleaning job was a spot one. You can definitely see where the armoral covered and did not covered the dashes. maybe was done right before they brought them to us in a hurry and back of my car could have been vacuumed better. Did not realized this until after I had filled their survey. No other bad comments, still will go back
We went in today and saw Andrew! We were very particular on how much we wanted to spend and how much for the down payment! Andrew helped us with every step and actually listened to us rather than pressure us into something that we didn’t want. He helped every step of way and was a great salesman! I had a scheduled test drive. I met Aris(I think that is how you spell it). He was courteous and informational. I didnt purchase because I wasnt a fan of the vehicle. It didnt fit me and plus it has 75,000 miles on it. Also, the payments are not within my budget range. I did liked how you can come in without a mask because everybody is spaced out. Like it felt like everybody was more than 6 ft apart and not crowded. The time I went was 10:30 on a Saturday.
I work at a dealership so I had my alert on for all the things that I see where I work that I dnt like. I must say it was a pretty cool experience. Nothing was bothersome to be honest. My salesman was pretty knowledgeable. I did need some addition information because I’m an business owner to verify some income but other than that, the process was cool easy and favorable to me as a used car consumer. Will recommend the CarMax experience
This place was great! After visiting several car lots and getting kind of frustrated, the folks at carmax were no pressure, no hassle. Didnt seem like they were trying to sell me, but trying to help me. Sam was so helpful and kind, I will definitely be back in the future!

First off I just want to say that they had a very wide variety of vehicles to select from for decent prices and the sales rep (dado) was polite and courteous and we appreciate it. However, almost every single vehicle that we wanted to look at, interested in, wanted to test drive etc.... was on hold (without a down payment)! Which in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous! I was ready to walk out and go to a different dealership to choose a vehicle but my fiance was hell bent on getting one that day, we chose the one we did! I really think that if they are going to hold vehicles for people that they need to have them put a hold payment/down-payment on the vehicle. What was even more annoying was there wasnt even anything on the vehicle (sticker wise) stating it was on hold. The 3 stars is me being generous.
Customer service was great, however, the tires they sent me home with were barely at the legal tread limit and I have called multiple times and left voicemails with no response. I purchased the vehicle at night and wasnt aware until the next day. I wanted a second opinion so when I had a chance to go to a professional, they told me that my alignment needs to be done, most likely because they put two new tires on and didnt do it, and that my other two tires I shouldnt be driving on and need to stay off wet roads, and I live in Florida where its always raining. The vehicle I purchased is front wheel drive and I think all four tires should have been changed, not just the back two. Still waiting for a response from the service department....
What a surprise CarMax was. Having had no experience with them except seeing them around, I thought of them as being a huge chain of low-end car lots. How wrong!! Went in, skeptically, to sell my car to them, only on a friends advice. Their price was fair, unlike the local Honda dealers. They gave me seven days to accept, a tremendous convenience. The employees were genuinely friendly and intelligent. The store was clean and attractive. They did everything they said theyd do, and the transaction was smooth and easy. Sam, the salesman, was great, and fun to talk to while waiting for the appraiser. I liked the cars on their lot, too. It just felt like a 100% positive experience, and Id repeat it in a heartbeat.
Other than spending money I would prefer not to...they are very accommodating, helpful and quick. Brent was very easy to work with.Very helpful after new car had an issue. Despite being busy with regular service they worked to get vehicle in sooner than soonest appointment available. They offered loaner vehicle to keep from inconveniencing my family. Both Roderick and Anthony in the service department were excellent is supporting me and my family.Wife loves the service and reliability, will return for future purchases. Brent (saleperson) even apologized for the inconvenience of having to come back up here. Great team.
Experience with sales and financial staff was pleasant and easy. Vehicle was not as clean as I feel like it should have been to be available for purchase and fuel tank was not full as promised. There definitely needs to be better quality control for those items but overall this was a good experience.
Carmax makes having your car appraised painless and quick. Make an appointment, show up, and wait about 30 minutes for a written offer good for 7 days. This offer is good regardless of whether or not you are purchasing a car from them. In my case I accepted the offer and within 30 minutes received a bank draft for the amount on the appraisal. Just make sure you have your title, registration, and Drivers Licenses for all who are on the title/registration. Highly recommend.
I got a quote to sell my car. I had tried another venue as well, KBBs online site, and the offer was equivalent. From KBBs site, I kept getting phone calls and emails from the places which was annoying. I didnt like the pressure. I was simply waiting on my new car to come in before I sold it. I also wasnt looking to buy from these other dealerships and was afraid once I went in, they would try to pressure me into buying a car from them.I didnt know what to expect, but I made an appointment and drove into CarMax with my keys, registration and title. They drove the car & plugged in to make sure it was mechanically sound, and then offered me exactly what their online offer was! In little over an hour, I had a check! Easy peasy! Thanks, CarMax!

Darius and Carmax at Jacksonville West were so gracious and patient while helping us buy our car. They did not pressure us or pester us to make our decision and they let us test drive as many vehicles as we needed. It seemed too good to be true but it was a perfect car buying experience.

I shopped online and found a truck that fit my budget and needs and had it transferred to my local Carmax. It took about a week for transfer and cleaning before I could test drive. I ended up purchasing the truck and I must say that my experience at Carmax was the best car buying process that I had ever had. The website allows you to shop from home and provides you with hi quality photos and in depth details about the car. The transfer option will also allow you to ship a car that you like from another Carmax location for a fee. The process was smooth and easy once I arrived at the dealership. I even took advantage of the 24 hour test drive. My salesman was helpful and informative. Hands down, awesome experience, no regrets, shop at Carmax today!!!!
Sold my Ford Taurus SHO there, there was a little issue being Im from PA and it having a PA title but it got resolved simply and the selling process was seemless. Very kind respectful and helpful staff. Impeccably clean facility with a awesome selection of vehicles. If you need to sell a car, I would certainly give them a call, or get a free quote online as I had. The online quote is typically what youll get a check cut for.
Poor service and sales department lies about the quality of the car at purchase. The car I got from them had a knife wound in the seat serval small patches of paint missing as well as having a horrible alignment that pulls to the right drastically. Service department will charge you for fixing this if you let them drag out the appointment date even if you have reported the issue before the warranty was up. This place sells pretty lemons you will have issues with there cars almost immediately guaranteed. Cheap work is done on cars with issues and it shows.
Could not have been easier. I found the car I wanted at a fair price and got a fair trade-in price for my car. Just one little glitch: during prep an employee scraped the fender of my new ride, but the CarMax body shop made it as good as new and gave me a loaner while it was in the shop. I would definitely recommend CarMax.

We made an appointment online to get an estimate on selling my car. We arrived at the scheduled appointment time, were greeted promptly, and then went through the appraisal and sale process easily. The entire visit took a little over an hour and everyone was super nice and friendly. Would definitely use them again when buying or selling a car!
I could not have been happier with my first Carmax experience. There is no way it could have been faster or easier. Considering it was my first time buying or selling with Carmax, I was admittedly skeptical going into the transaction. I arrived for my appointment with my online offer. They took the keys, did a road test of my car, and within minutes presented me with an offer identical to the online one. I kept re-reading it to see if it was really true. Where was the fine print? None. Once I accepted the offer it only took a few more minutes before I signed a few papers and was presented with a check; for the exact amount of the offer. I am a believer now! I would certainly do business with Carmax again.
My man Tyler helped me out. He was helpful.Only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because of two things:1. They messed up and I had to come back in again to do paperwork. (Like the 1st time wasnt long enough!)2. I didnt feel comfortable when I had another truck shipped there to look at before making my final decision. (They have 7 days to return) so I utilized it because I wanted to make sure I made the right pick. They had to do all the paperwork over (this is not in connection with #1. That was seperate.) I felt it was a problem that I decided to go with a different truck than the one I was test running. I told myself I didnt do anything wrong and that I had 7 days to decide... I even came in to pay my down payment they forgot to take when I left the 1st time that I realized they didnt get!My advisor was great though. Everyone was friendly. It was just that glance of irritation by some having to double work maybe? It was there none the less.
My daughter and I visited today to buy her first car. Best car buying experience by far! They are honest and upfront and don’t try to sell you what you don’t need. After today, I won’t be buying anywhere else, ever! It is definitely the way car buying should be!! Bought 3 cars from here, of course the first two were Corollas (one of the most reliable cars thanks to Toyota) so never any issues great price for great cars. Now this third car we got was a Rogue, paying a lot for this vehicle for the extra features it has. The day we buy the vehicle it is in need of a wheel alignment. Made an appointment and fixed within the week just to be calling back a week later for the same issue again. As odd as it was we took it back for another alignment asking if it could be a further issue, they brush it off, fix it and on our way. Within that same week our ac starts shutting off and turning back on, we take it back for them to say they put in more freon and should be fine, but we were more concerned for the fact it was shutting off and on, but since it didnt happen within the hour they had it, that problem seemed to not exist to them. Well what do you know within that same week another alignment is needed, mind you this isnt some small issue with the wheel barely veering right, you had to continuously correct the wheel while driving. We were fed up called and all they said was they would do another alignment but the vehicle was fine. We gave up on them with that issue. Fast forward a few more weeks and the sensors on the right of the vehicle started acting up turning off and on randomly, we thought maybe it could just be due to passing something that was mistaken as a car but still were uneasy about it. We had noticed a small stain from the sunroof when we got it and as the weeks went by (being as it rains in FL) we notice it get bigger until realizing there is a huge leak from the sunroof. When advising the employees for CarMax they seemed to think we were stupid and did not know how to properly close the sunroof that is practically never opened. At this point we realized we were given a car with many issues and told we are the problem. If you read this, please save yourself the money and do NOT get a vehicle from here unless you want to pay more out of pocket for issues the vehicle has.

Came here after acura of orange park low balled me on offer for my car. Their offer was fair and along KBB VALUE I had looked for my car. And $4000 dollars more that what the Acura dealer offered me. They did not play games were straight forward. Would consider buying from them if I were in market for used car.
In January 2021, I had an idea of a car I wanted, and I test drove a few. Then I decided on a GMC Terrain I wanted. They told me as I was ready tobuy the car, that I couldnt purchase it because someone reserved a test drive for the next day. They would call me the next day to let me know if it was still available after the previously reserved test drive. The other customer was scheduled for a 930 test drive and I finally received a call at 1pm. I called back a 1:30 and arrived there 20 minutes later to purchase the car as we discussed over the phone. When I arrived someone else had already test drove and was signing paperwork to purchase the car. Glad It didnt work out with Carmax, and I was able to take my bussiness elsewhere.
Janice is amazing! My fiancé and I originally met her when we were looking to purchase a vehicle for him. He ended up purchasing a car elsewhere, but Janice’s kind and helpful personality made me come back a few weeks later to purchase a car of my own! Thankfully, she was my salesperson when I had my Kia Sorento transferred to this location. The process was painless and super quick and Janice was such a pleasure and so funny too! I truly thank her for being so awesome because I had my 3 month old baby with me and I’m typically very anxious when I’m out with her, but Janice’s warm disposition kept me calm. Thank you again and I absolutely love my car!
From beginning to end this was the best car transaction that I’ve had. I chose my car to test drive online - and made an appointment. The associate was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. I had pre-approval from my bank and knew how much I would pay. I also got a fair trade in value for my Corolla.
Two days after having the car my check engine light came on and a few other things started going wrong. What killed me was when I told the female who sold me the car that the brakes were squeaking, she had the nerve to tell me that Nissans are known for squeaky brakes. LOL. Honestly I wish I never went there.
This online car selection and buying experience was a first for me and I will never forget. I visited CarMax website and selected the car I really wanted, which was located at another geographic area. I called the CarMax toll free number to ask to speak to a sale rep in the car transfer section. After talking to the sales rep and answering all asked questions and asking some questions I had at the time, I was assured my requested car was on hold, and in the process of being shipping to me within the guaranteed time frame. So, I waited for almost two weeks, without receiving any phone calls from the dealership. I called the local dealership of where I was suppose to test drive and potentially buy the vehicle. I was advised that no car was ever transferred and I had no car on hold. To my surprise, I asked the salesman if the car was still available for sell. Luckily the car was still available and at a reduce price. So of course, I requested the car to be transferred, and agreed to pay the non-refundable vehicle transfer fee. Seven days later, the vehicle arrived and I was texted to schedule a test drive. During the buying process, I asked the sales associate several questions pertaining to the vehicle. The area I think needs improvement in the car selling process is the salesmans knowledge concerning the vehicle that is being sold to that customer. For example, I asked the salesman, if there was a spare tire inside the vehicle. I was told no. I later found the spare tire in the vehicle.I also asked the salesman, if there was a vehicle owners manual for the vehicle. I was told no. I later found the owners manual for the vehicle inside the car. Even though I had a little rough start and had some I dont know answers from the salesman, to some of my questions, I would recommend buying a car from CarMax to a friend or family member, simply because from the time of my scheduled appointment to my final signature at the dealership, it only took two hours to complete this car trade-in and car buying process. Everyone I encountered was polite, respectful and had great intensions of performing their job as best they could, giving the current health crisis we are dealing with as a nation and world. Buying a car at CarMax was not only non-intimidating, but I actually enjoyed myself and feel I received a great deal for a new car, a maintenance insurance package, and for the sale of my old car.Vassel Forrester was our Sales Associate. He answered all our questions and made sure we had everything we would need before we left. Everyone we dealt with was professional and friendly.I wont hesitate to send my family and friends to CarMax. Infact, my husband bought a car somewhere-else the month before, and he wishes he had gone to CarMax, first.
This was by far the best car buying experience! I dont say that lightly. It isnt your normal back and forth, 4 hour ordeal that it normally is. With test drive to leaving took a little over an hour!!! Andrew was so great and responsive about all of my requests! Would highly recommend!
While signing the paperwork to purchase the truck, it was damaged going thru the carwash. 17 days later the repair completed and paint matching was off and the only area that was clean was the repair area, the truck was dirty inside and out for being at the repair shop. Mark and Bill were outstanding performers in assisting me with a refund since I paid for the truck in cash. In addition, I asked if the repair was going to be included on the Carfax report and was told NO since it was not an insurance claim. Another factor in making the decision to return the vehicle.
These guys are great. Not pushy at all, extremely helpful and accommodating, very friendly, and willing to do whatever you need them to do. They are no-haggle, so the price you see is the price you get. The great thing about CarMax, though, is that they can have vehicles transferred from other locations for free or cheap (free in my case). They are very upfront about everything and are willing to answer any questions you may have. Very nice place, very good selection of vehicles, very high quality of the vehicles. If they don’t have it, they can get it for little to no additional cost to you. Very fair about trade-ins as well. Highly recommend them. I will absolutely be back if I find myself in the market for another vehicle.
Amazing. Having bought plenty of cars and dealing with the salesmen everywhere who play games and think we are unable to do math, this was amazing. We were buying my parents a car. CarMax gave them a great price on their trade-in and they bought a great car. No haggling and good prices and selection. Andrae and DJ were seriously the nicest guys we’ve ever dealt with. The whole process was quick and easy. Will be back when it’s time for another purchase. Don’t waste your time anywhere.
I scheduled an appt to get my car appraised. Everything went soooooo smooth and they offered me almost twice what KBB said my vehicle was worth so I decided to sell my vehicle same day instead of trading it in at the dealership I was going to! There was no pressure to purchase or look at other vehicles while I was there and the paperwork was easy and very quick. I was in and out within an hour of my scheduled appt which I appreciated them being timely as Saturdays we typically have a full scheduled. I’d definitely recommend going to CarMax for an appraisal before simply trading in your vehicle because you think it’s the easiest transition.

After several disappointing visits to a few Nissan dealerships I decided to go to Carmax. It was a totally different experience. The no haggle policy makes for a stress free buying experience. The price is the price! Yes there was a dealer processing fee but its posted on a wall and it wasnt as high as other dealers.I am happy with my purchase, and the vehicle warranty I purchased was less expensive than other dealerships.
Let me start out by saying I was extremely nervous when I arrived at the dealership because I had never financed a vehicle before. I didn’t know what to expect. The whole process from start to finish was a breeze. Our sales rep Mali was absolutely the best!! He made the whole buying experience a pleasure. I highly recommend Carmax to anyone. I will go back to CarMax. They were honest. They didnt try to pressure me into buying something I didnt want. Michael was fabulous and made me feel very comfortable about the car I was getting. I went to several different car dealerships and I literally left one in tears but usually I was just angry. I was ready to give up. Michael made it a very pleasant experience and will have my business as long as hes selling cars. I cant say thank you enough.
First, let me say: I HATE car shopping!!!!! This is my first experience with Carmax, and Ill never go anywhere else. Ive been raving to all my friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. Leandra was the perfect salesperson. Explaining everything (in detail), getting my car transferred here, making sure the transfer was super easy, never any pressure or attempt to switch me to another car, communicating every step of the way. And, Amy made sure that the paperwork was an enjoyable part of the process. LOVE my new car! A couple of items needed to be fixed, and Walker was right on it. He gave me a comparable courtesy car, and had his team tackle everything on my list. It only took a couple of days, and now I have my car back, and its almost like new new. Thanks to everyone there!
I’d say two stars is fair! I had an awesome experience. However I purchased a vehicle that had a crack in the windshield. I made two parties aware of this and they both promised that they would replace the windshield. After speaking and having my windshield looked at multiple times, I was told, the shield is up to our safety standards and they would not be filling through with their promise to replace the windshield. Now it’s my responsibility to get it fixed myself or pay them to fix it.
The people over the phone apparently approved me for a car without all of the required information. I went to the dealership expecting to test drive the car and take it home, only to find out that I didnt qualify after all. It was pretty messed up, and I did not appreciate the whiplash effect given. I am pretty sure that when Im in the market again, I will not be choosing carmax.
I had purchased our most recent vehicle (Mazda CX-5-thanks Leandra!) early June. We had about 5000 miles on it and wanted the checkup that comes with the oil change; fresh oil change AND wash and neaten up/wipe down on interior!I will be back for my next oil change😁😁Courteous and professional service personnel (thanks, Tammy) and quick, efficient service.Thank you, CarMax at Blanding!!
I have mixed feeling about CarMax. I purchased a car from them in March of 2020. First the car had deflated tires ( this is usual if the car sits on the lot for a extended period). Then the car had a bad transmission. I contacted them while I was under warranty. I called several times. I had to visit the office and complain before I was helped. They fixed the car for free. However, my personal mechanic mention that the car I purchased was notorious for transmission issue and CarMax should have check the transmission before they sold me the car. Do your research and have a mechanic check the car before you complete a purchase with CarMax.
My experience at CarMax was excellent. The staff was very helpful and made sure all my questions were answered. They were even able to get me better financing then I had walking in there. I got the car I wanted and great service quickly and smoothly. I would recommend CarMax to anyone and if you go to Jacksonville West ask for Fred he did a great job.
Purchased our second vehicle from Carmax on Saturday February 1st. After reviewing ads for weeks for local dealers. We purchased a vehicle from their Atlantic Blvd location 15 years ago and was so pleased we returned. If you are considering a used vehicle there is no place better to purchase than Carmax. We shopped the Blanding Blvd location this time and our salesman to our finance associate were great. No pressure and listened to our needs and found the perfect car and financing for us!!!Best experience we have had in our 45 years of buying cars.
If you go ask for SAM the MANNNN! Sam was awesome and made the experience nice and easy no matter how difficult our requests were. He even stayed walked around to most cars on the lot with us to find the perfect year make model and mileage on each car on the lot (we didn’t want to have a car shipped and we wanted to verify the size before we decided)! He was amazing and helped us to find the perfect car within our budget. I’ll be back in 14 months for an additional car. I will definitely be recommending him to all of my friends, family, & even strangers!

It was relatively very quick process and got more money than what other dealers offered. I got few quotes from dealers near by for my Mercedes Benz GLC 300. CarMax beat the best offer from other dealers by more than 2000$ just for selling the car. If I had trade in, I would have saved 1300 more. I will always get a CarMax quote before selling. Zion was very polite and helpful @ the Jacksonville West location.
Beware!! My daughter had a car shipped in, they told it her it was available and she scheduled a test drive and when we went to her appointment last night they had loaned it to someone else! They told us they would reach out to the people they loaned it to and have them bring it back so we could test drive it this afternoon... we havent heard from them by noon so we call and they are saying they wont have it back for almost a week and they apologize. Sales manager at Jacksonville West location is very rude and wouldnt even let me talk without interrupting and talking over me. We are going elsewhere!!! *Unfortunately, this was my daughters dream car.*

As a single woman car shopping is intimidating. I’m lead to believe without a man to defend me I’m gonna get ripped off or cheated somehow and the haggle free approach at CarMax just removed that whole part of the equation. They were very accommodating of my requirements and timing and unique financial situation. I had one car shipped in to test drive and ended up in a completely different one that met all my needs and I’m thrilled to have! Just an all around great experience and I’ll be back!

Dave Myers was my appointed salesman/car guru. He will make sure you get what you want down to the specifics. Fair prices and no haggle or pressure type experience. I had a great experience at CarMax on Blanding Boulevard. They gave me a higher trade-in value than what I was expecting on my truck, and had exactly the car I was looking for on the lot. I was in and out in two hours with a new car. They were very nice to deal with at each step. This is the fourth car Ive bought from CarMax. Ive not had a bad experience with them.
My husband I purchased a car from Carmax a couple of weeks ago. Our sales associate, Daniel, was very helpful from start to finish, he even came in on his day off to close the deal. Being self-employed, thats always the headache of most major buying decisions, and the finance staff was more than accommodating with helping to make the purchase achievable. We have already recommended Carmax to friends and family!
Very easy car buying experience. My sales person, Johnny Tran, is the absolute best. He is helpful without being pushy or annoying and he gives you time and space to make your own decision about the vehicle you want to purchase. To be honest, if it werent for his helpful yet laid back approach, I may have opted to continue my search elsewhere. If it hadnt have been for some minor frustrating issues on the business side, I would have given a five start review.
I was greeted pretty fast and everyone seemed to be attentive. The appraisal and selling process was way faster than I anticipated...(and also covid ready). I had a lien-holder on my vehicle and they took care of pretty much everything. Appreciated the process being prompt and straight forward.

We went to CarMax looking for a specific vehicle. They did not have a matching vehicle on lot but had one at another location. They transferred the vehicle to my local store for free. The vehicle was as I expected. We had pre-qualified for financing and trade-in. The process was seamless and very clear. Their agents were fantastic, very professional, and polite. Easiest vehicle purchase we have ever made and will definitely go there for our next vehicle.Almost immediately, we had a service issue pop up and they went well out of their way to take care of it to our satisfaction. Their service department is excellent. Polite, responsive, and professional.
I had a great experience with Carmax from start to finish. I took my truck there for an estimate to be purchased; I was not anticipating purchasing a car from them as well. While they were looking over my truck Jeff Moore helped me peruse their available trucks and found one that was almost exactly what I was looking for. It was shipped to the dealership in a matter of days, I test drove it, and purchased it! I sold them my truck as well. Both processes were hassle free and pretty quick - I would definitely recommend them!
Carmax PROS: I REALLY, REALLY LIKED ANDREW. He was very professional, no pressure, and always available by phone or text. I do like how you can test drive a car and no one has to ride with you. I really like the website and how you can have a vehicle transported from another city or state if need be. CARMAX CONS: So... We paid to have a vehicle transported and we came and test drove it. ANDREW WAS AWESOME as usual. WE LOVED the vehicle, however the back two tires were in pretty bad condition. Andrew had the manager come out and he was going to test the tires. He wasnt polite. He went straight to measuring the tires and didnt really introduce himself. I introduced myself first. After measuring the tires he told us that they met their safety standards . We told him that if they detailed inside of the car and replaced those back two tires, we would buy the car. He said no, he wasnt going to do that. He proceeded to argue with my husband about the life of the tire (My husband is a professional driver) and basically walks off saying It doesnt matter.. were not getting anything from this sale.. They did offer to give it to us at COST for the back two tires. IF THE MANAGER HAD BEEN MORE PROFESSIONAL , MAYBE I WOULD HAVE PAID TO REPLACE THE BACK TWO TIRES BUT SINCE HE WASNT, WE WENT ELSE WHERE. I FEEL REALLY BAD FOR ANDREW AS HE IS A GOOD EMPLOYEE WITH A UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGER. ANDREW YOU GET FIVE STARS But because of your manager CARMAX gets two. On a positive note for us, we did find the vehicle elsewhere in the SE style, same color and lower miles for cheaper.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!Bought a car from them (Equinox, 60k miles), 3 days later, check engine light came on. The car had engine complications, so it was traded in for another car. The second car (Cadillac, 50k miles) started having issues a week later. FIVE inspections later, we found out it had a bad transfer case, bad shocks, bad struts, bad alternator, bad power steering pump, bad rear differential, and bad tensioner pulley.The car was under Carmax warranty, but warranty would not cover car, as Carmax stated they held different standards of defective than the other 5 inspections completed, one location being GM and one location being Cadillac, and the other three were mechanical shops. Repairs came to $15K, which is what I paid for the car itself. After two months of fighting with them, they finally agreed to take the car back and reimburse me my costs, which ended up being $2500 LESS than my actual costs.Management was rude, customer service told nothing but lies, and employees were just flat out ignorant. NEVER WOULD I EVEN RECOMMEND THEM TO MY WORST ENEMY.I finally ended up buying a GOOD car from Carvana(Buick, 30k miles), who were amazing. They even fixed cosmetic damages to the front, from previous owner, and cosmetics arent covered under my warranty. I paid just $2k more than the Cadillac, and got so much more in return.PLEASE! If you are looking for a car, dont put yourself in the situation that I was in. Chose any other dealer, just do your research first.... I wish i had. If I had done mine first, I would have uncovered so many complaints and lawsuits concerning the identical situation I was in.
Christopher Peneguy is the absolute best car advisor I’ve ever met. We just sold my fiancé’s car, and we received $1000 more than we had expected. The entire time it was getting appraised, Christopher patiently walked us around the lot and showed us different cars we wanted to see. He was extremely knowledgeable about so many different makes and models, even rare ones, that I was severely impressed. Throughout the experience, he found me what would be the perfect fit car for me if I was in the market to buy, but he wasn’t pushy at all at any moment. He genuinely made the experience so fun and enjoyable that it completely changed my preconceived notions and past experiences of a stereotypical car salesman. Next car that I buy, will be from him
Sam, Sam hes our man! If he cant do it no one can! From the time we walked in to the time we left (11pm!) we were treated like family. We originally went in to see trade in value for my car. The process took maybe 35 mins from start to finish. Sam showed us a couple vehicles while we waited for the quote. He wasnt pushy, very patient(we had our two girls with us too) and never seemed bothered by us keeping him way past closing! Long story short we left with my new mom whip!❤ I cant say enough about the staff! From the Hector who checked us in, to Sam being with us the whole process of not knowing what I wanted to do, to the finance staff Mark and Megan. The process was a breeze compared to past car purchases. Everyone stayed way past closing for us and I cant say thank you enough! Truly an amazing group of people! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I came in yesterday with an idea to just test drive cars, and walked out with a new car instead! Peyton, my salesman, did an amazing job, he has been working with me for weeks trying to find me the perfect car that corresponds with my financing and my pickiness. After many hours and coming in and out of the store several times because of my financing troubles, Peyton was able to help me figure everything out and put me in a beautiful car. I appreciate his dedication and determination, without him I probably would’ve given up on the whole thing!! I look forward to coming to him for any future car needs and my mom is very excited to be working with him when she purchases her car in the next couple weeks!
They told me one price for a down payment and than I look at another car and they wanted more down payment and the car I was going to get they sold it and it was put on hold for me. And they keep changing the down payment. And the sales guy didnt help me he keep on going to others and stay on his phone Tyler. It was like he didnt want to help . So I left and told them that I will never come back there for a car.
My fiancé and I had went here to look at a Malibu that was in our price range about 2 weeks or so ago. We sit at the salespersons desk who tried taking advantage and ripping us off. I know we’re in our early 20’s but I’ve bought a couple cars so far in my lifetime and the dealership seemed like they didn’t wanna work with us on our budget. We weren’t being unreasonable at all. We do a credit application and I’m low 700s and the salesman comes back with a 24% interest rate and I just felt completely disrespected and taken advantage of. I wouldn’t go back there if my life depended on it. We went and bought a car $3k cheaper than the Malibu and our interest rate was 5.99%
We brought our truck in for appraisal to sell. . went home to think about it... came back few days later and within 30 min we had a check! I cant believe how easy and fast it was! Not to mention top dollar! We checked blue book value and it was accurate! DJ was very professional and the gentleman working in customer service was awesome too!
First time using Car Max. Had the exact car I was looking for shipped from Tampa in a most timely fashion. The facilities were very clean and my salesman Mr.Kiger really knew his stuff. I like the no haggle price,but thought they low balled me on my trade in.They will be the first one I go to for any used car purchase.in the future.

Even the transfer from an out of state CarMax was easy and I was notified when it came in for a test drive. As of now... I will only buy vehicles from CarMax! Been buying cars for almost 50 years. This was the most pleasant experience I have ever had. Great selection, clean and professional operation. I have not had to use the service department so I cannot comment on that aspect, but will definitely recommend the sales experience to everyone. The 3 year old car I purchased was cleaner than many new cars that I have bought in the past.

This is the second car I have purchased from CarMax. Both experiences were wonderful. Arias Hall made the whole purchasing experience the best. Not only did he stay in constant contact with me, he also did not pressure me like I always got at other dealerships. CarMax also gave me a great deal on my trade, so I was able to drive off with my new car.
I’ve had a horrible experience trying to buy a car here. I will not be back. The salesmen named Mario did not listen to a word that was said while there and has been blowing up my phone since I left. He was informed I would be back this weekend after I figured out a few things with my bank. He informed me that he would put a car on hold for me for when I came back. He did not put the car on hold so I went on the website and did it myself scheduling a test drive for when I will be back. He’s been blowing up my phone since then, calling me several times a day asking me when I’m able to come in. I told him I no longer want to buy a car from him and he is still blowing up my phone. Horrible customer service I do not recommend.
Josh made my car buying experience very pleasant. He was very helpful and very attentive to what we needed. When I had to bring my car back in to have some repairs done on it Josh made sure that I got the help that I needed. Walker was awesome also. He was very polite and funny.
Had hubbys new car transferred from Sanford. David was our sales consultant and was friendly, knowledgeable and didnt delay us. Kids play area was clean and air conditioned. Had our mechanic check the car out, and he recommended new brakes, so we took it back to Carmax for an evaluation and there was zero hassle - Gave us a loaner, fixed the brakes at no charge, and had great dispositions. Definitely going back here for any future car-buying needs!
Ill say that my ONLINE experience was great.However, overall in-person experience wasnt great at all and left a lot to be desired.Initially wanted to trade-in my current car but the felt that evaluation was way too low. This turned out to be accurate as I was able to get MORE THAN DOUBLE that from a local dealership!! Why be so greedy Carmax?? The internet is a powerful tool..Once I located the car I wanted to buy, the individual I dealt with throughout the car transfer process was great, but was not working the day the car arrived. When I go to inspect/test drive/purchase the car, the associate I was passed off to was trying to address three different people at the same time which really prolonged the process. Plenty of associates within arms reach not helping out. Aside from that, he knew nothing of the car, gave BS answers that turned out to be wrong I found out later and took no interest in showing me any of the new features. Luckily Im not picky because the car color was also wrong and tried to convince me otherwise as if I would just take his word for it. Basically tried to push me out the door.The car had not been cleaned or even vacuumed and there was spilled cleaning solution all inside the car which blew my mind!In short, the experience was great until I had to deal with people. :)
Sales advisor was awesome.After service is pathetic if something goes wrong. CarMax didnt meet their 15 day pay off for purchasing my vehicle, they had the wrong address for where they sent the check off to. They were 8 days late and my old loan had charged me a per day interest. I called car max and basically they told me to call head office , I called head office and no one returned a call then I called the office I bought the car from and no one return a call. They keep brushing this under the rug. If I owed them money this would be a different story. Pathetic service. I enjoyed CarMax but because of this I will never use them again.
2 weeks I ago I ended up at Carmax after a disappointing trip to Mazda. A few friends had mentioned success at Carmax , so I ended up there and was pleasantly surprised. Salesperson was great but my issue came while wrapping up the sale. A few requests to get front license plate and follow up phone call were no luck so now I must buy a new one.I was told that my car would be detailed after purchase. My first response was how long will it take and when should I return. I was told no wait while we wrap up paperwork. I didnt realize a detail could be 20 minutes or so. After driving the car the first week I started to notice how it was clean at first windows and dashes were way dirty. It was like the whole time they cleaned just enough and fast enough to get on to next car. The local car wash does a way better job.I have now filled out 2 surveys indicating both issues . One of those had my number and email asking for contact but no one has responded from Carmax. All in all it was good . Sure I have to get a new LSU plate, but what irks me more is the detail . Today I did a thorough cleaning of the inside of the car and it was crazy how much dirt was on the dash. It was like the windows and dash, and dash area behind backseats were never touched.I will still give 4 stars and just realize I got stuck with the ones who were lazy while cleaning cars at that particular Carmax.
