If they want to accept messages from everyone on Tumblr, then you can message them. If they only accept messages from Tumblrs they follow, you have to wait until they follow you first. Keep in mind: You can't message anyone who's blocked you.

People use Tumblr for simplicity and diversity. It's easy to use and allows anyone to start a visual appealing blog. It's easy to mainain a text blog, photo, video, or music. The social features on Tumblr are also better and more interactive than on other blogging platforms.

While the adult content ban increased ad revenue in the short term, it ultimately finalized Tumblr's decline in user engagement and influence. The platform lost its niche appeal without successfully attracting a new audience and struggled to find a new identity.

As they say themselves, “Tumblr lets you effortlessly share anything. Post text, photos, quotes, links, music, and videos from your browser, phone, desktop, email or wherever you happen to be.” It is a cross between a social networking site (like Facebook and Twitter) and a blog.

It offers an easy way to quickly get started and is cost-effective, especially for personal and small business use. Be mindful of the potentially weird content on Tumblr. While it offers diverse content, not everything may be to everyone's liking or appropriate.
