  • First recorded: 1991
  • Creator: Brian Nimens
  • Owner: Sound Ideas (April 1992-present)
  • Origin: Canada
  • Year debut: October 6, 1993
  • First heard: Grown-Ups for a Day! (a Barney & Friends episode)
  • Area used: Worldwide

This sound was recorded in 1991 by Brian Nimens, because The General Series 6000 Sound Effects Library was in the making at that time. Then, it debuted in the Barney & Friends season 2 episode, "Grown-Ups for a Day!" on October 6, 1993.

This is one of the most commonly used cat sounds in media from the 1990s to present. It is commonly heard in western animation shows and commercials during that time period, although it's not commonly used in video games and anime.
