Megyn Kelly cautions Democrats celebrating Trump's conviction of 'open lawfare' - Bidens, Clintons, and Obama could be next - Internewscast Journal (2024)

Megyn Kelly has warned Democrats that Donald Trump’s felony conviction opens a ‘Pandora’s box’ that means no one is safe.

Former president Trump was found guilty by a jury of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the so-called ‘hush money’ trial in New York.

Trump covered up payments to, among others, p*rnstar Stormy Daniels to hide extramarital affairs and now faces jail time.

Kelly lashed out at the verdicton Twitter minutes after it was delivered, calling for the district attorney who prosecuted him to be banned from practicing law.

‘The country is disgraced. Alvin Bragg should be disbarred. They will rue the day they unleashed this lawfare to corrupt a presidential election,’ she wrote.

Kelly followed up with a six-minute rant on herSiriusXM podcast in which she warned that prosecuting Trump meant Democrats could be too.

She predicted ‘tit-for-tat’ indictments of anyone from President Joe Biden and his wife Jill to former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton.

‘This is ridiculous. What a sad day. The country’s been disgraced. That’s what’s happened,’ she began.

‘We made it almost 250 years without doing this. And now, because of falsified business records, we’ve convicted as a felon a former president of the US.’

Kelly argued the case against Trump was so petty that if Republicans looked hard enough they could build one against former Democratic presidents.

‘You don’t think we could have done something like this to Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton or others?’ she said.

‘We had a standard. We didn’t do this in America. We aren’t a banana republic, or at least we didn’t used to be.’

A banana republic (not the clothing chain) is a country with an economy almost entirely dependent on exporting its natural resources.

Typically, the country is in the tight grip of a ruling class that exploits the rest through close cooperation with the monopolies doing the exporting.

Kelly claimed Thursday’s verdict was a ‘before and after moment for America’ and meant the country crossed a line ‘we can’t uncross’.

‘These Democrats will rue the day they decided to use lawfare to stop a presidential candidate,’ she said.

‘I’m not talking about violence. I’m talking about tit for tat. You just wait and it won’t be Hunter Biden the next time.

‘It’s going to be Joe Biden. It could potentially still be Barack Obama. It could still potentially be Hillary Clinton.’

Kelly claimed the Democrats ‘tasted blood today’ and needed to be retaliated against as ‘that’s the only way they’ll learn’.

‘The only way to save the republic now is to give them a taste of their own medicine. That’s it,’ she said.

‘They’re the wolves with the bloody piece of meat in their mouths. That doesn’t stop the wolf from coming back for more.

‘The only thing that will stop him is if he loses a limb of his own.’

Kelly compared the situation to when Democratic lawmakers stopped the filibuster from being used by Republicans to block the appointment of lower court judges.

The Republicans then ‘upped the ante’ to higher court judges when they were back in power.

‘And you’ll be sorry. That’s what needs to happen here. Who’s getting indicted next? Joe Biden? Maybe Jill Biden. How low can we go?’ she said.

‘So before you celebrate too much… over this absurd conviction, you wait and ask yourself, what kind of Pandora’s box has been opened here?’

Kelly predicted the ‘lawfare’ could get so nasty that both sides may pass laws to extend statues of limitations to allow for charges of political opponents.

She claimed the Democrats already started this as Trump’s case was deliberately trumped up to make the ex-president ‘look like Al Capone’.

‘But the idea all along was to stop him from becoming president again. That’s the idea behind this prosecution,’ she said.

Kelly claimed, without evidence, that the ‘hush money’ trial, the Georgia election interference case, and the NYC fraud judgement were all a coordinated ‘corrupt scheme’ to prevent him from winning.

‘That was the idea behind E Jean Carroll and her sexual assault case brought 30 years after the fact,’ she added.

‘Alleging a sexual assault/rape in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room, a case she couldn’t even rememberthe year of the alleged rape in.’

Carroll won the case, which was a defamation lawsuit stemming from Trump calling her a liar about him raping her, and was awarded $88.3 million.

There is no evidence that any of the cases are coordinated, or any member of the Biden Administration is involved in any of them.

The charges Trump was convicted of each carry a maximum potential sentence of up to four years in prison. He will be sentenced on July 11.

The trial included five weeks of dramatic evidence and 22 witnesses being quizzed on the stand.

The case is the first time a former US President has faced a criminal trial.

Trump is the presumptive Republican presidential candidate and is set to take on Joe Biden in November’s election.

It means the verdict could upend the 2024 White Houserace and prove a pivotal moment in the history of the United States.
