  1. Lindsey says:

So sorry, but I'm just a little confused. Are you supposed to saute the chicken until its completely cooked through or just the outside and the 4 minutes will finish the cooking process?

  2. Momma Cyd says:

Just cook and sear the outside edges of the chicken.

  3. Billy says:

I followed this to the T and it came out runny. The flavor was great but I suspect my elevation has something to do with it. I'm at 5500+ feet and I'd cut back on the broth maybe half a cup and probably half as much cream.

  4. Jackie says:

I loved the flavour but the chicken was not tender. I may try rotisserie chicken next time and add it after the noodles are cooked. Mine was also very runny - almost like a soup - but I live in high altitude - 7000+ feet.

  5. Evie says:

Very tasty recipe! The chicken was tender and seasoned so well.

  6. Christine says:

I doubled this recipe tonight in a 10 qt instant pot, which held that amount of food really well, although I did need to sauté the chicken in 2 batches. The seasoning on the chicken was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the pasta cooked in the broth. It was not mushy at all. My whole family enjoyed the dish very much, which surprised me because none of us are typically a fan of cream cheese in a sauce. This recipe is going in my menu book for sure. Thank you for sharing such a delicious (and easy) recipe 😊

  7. Von says:

I made this tonight. My husband and daughter liked it. I did feel like it needs less liquid. Next time I make it I will use 1/2 cup of cream.

My husband and I LOVED this! Highly recommend for sure

  9. April Mist says:

    It's really good....

  10. April Mist says:

Mine came out very watery as well I'm not sure if it's my elevation I'm not as high as some other reviews I'm at 4500 any suggestions? I want to make this again.

  11. Jan says:

It did turn out pretty soupy even with half as much cream than what the recipe called for. The noodles were cooked perfectly and it is creamy. It has too much Italian seasoning for my liking though. If I were to make it again I’d use 1/2 as much of the Italian seasoning and add a little heat.

Instant Pot Cheesy Chicken and Pasta Recipe (18)

  12. Barb B. CZT says:

I made this last night. Not only was it soupy but the penne did not cook fully. I had to keep it on saute and try to get the pasta to al dente. Eventually, the pasta was cooked enough but it was still soupy. I tried to thicken it with cornstarch but didn't use enough to really make a difference. Meanwhile, I served it and my husband LOVED it! Next time I try to make this I will do it a little differently. Maybe it was the pasta I used.

    My family loved it!

  14. Chantal says:

This was so good!! I used a little over 4 cups of chicken broth so the pasta was submerged in liquid. Then used little over 3/4 of a cup of the heavy cream and found that to be a perfect consistency. Great favor!

Instant Pot Cheesy Chicken and Pasta Recipe (21)

  15. Christina Skewes says:

This was a quick and yummy dinner. The sauce is runny at first but thickens as it cools down.

  16. Kitty D says:

This was a great recipe! My husband and I enjoyed it very much. It mad more than we can use so I’m going to try and freeze leftovers, I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thank you

  17. Jenn says:

Do I change anything if I want to make this on stovetop, not instant pot?

  18. Momma Cyd says:

There is a big difference with this recipe if adapting it to the stove top from the Instant Pot because it would be a totally different way to prepare it. Some of the steps are similar, but you would have to watch how things are cooking and pay attention to that.

  19. Jennifer says:

5 stars! The seasoning is amazing in this! I am putting this on rotation - so easy and tasty:)

FAQs

Why does my Instant Pot chicken come out rubbery? ›

Oddly enough, it can be really challenging to get the right texture when cooking boneless chicken breasts. They cook quickly in the Instant Pot, but if you don't cook them long enough they get a weird, rubber-like texture that's nearly impossible to chew, and if you cook them too long, their texture gets dry.

Does cooking chicken longer in Instant Pot make it more tender? ›

This dinner staple cooks up perfectly every time in the Instant Pot. You can aim for firm but juicy chicken for cubing, or let it cook a little bit longer for tender shredded chicken.

Does Instant Pot dry out chicken? ›

Don't expect crispy skin on your chicken.

Like the slow cooker, the Instant Pot (and other pressure cookers) creates a moist cooking environment that does not dry out the skin.

Can you overcook chicken in the Instapot? ›

It is very easy to overcook chicken breast in pressure cooker, as we cannot check the temperature and level of doneness during the cooking process.

How to make chicken not chewy in Instant Pot? ›

The main reasons chicken gets chewy and tough in a pressure cooker is either by overcooking them, or forgetting to do a natural release of the pressure. You also want to let the chicken rest before using them so that the juices distribute throughout the meat, making them tender and juicy.

Can I put undercooked chicken back in Instant Pot? ›

If the chicken is still not cooked to at least 160 degrees, secure the instant pot lid and cook for 1-3 minutes longer, on high pressure.) Allow the chicken to rest 5 minutes before cutting, or shredding. For shredded chicken: Remove the trivet after cooking, and leave about ½ cup of liquid at the bottom of your pot.

Should chicken be submerged in an Instant Pot? ›

Note: You can submerge your chicken directly in the cooking liquid, especially if you want to make chicken stock. However, the steamer basket method ensures crispy skin and won't wash away the seasoning. Individual chicken pieces can be cooked in much the same way as a whole chicken.

How do you keep chicken from getting tough in Instant Pot? ›

With chicken you need to let the pot naturally release for at least 10 minutes-all the way before opening. This helps it finish cooking and keeps it from becoming dried out and tough. 8-10 minutes high pressure should be enough for fresh chicken. Was it bone-in or boneless?

How many chicken breasts can you cook at once in an Instant Pot? ›

You can make up to 5 pounds of chicken breast in the Instant Pot at once, if yours is 6 quarts like mine. I usually stick to no more than 4 pounds, as 5 pounds doesn't always cook evenly.

What happens if you cook chicken too long in Instant Pot? ›

Can you overcook chicken in an Instant Pot? Yes. You can overcook chicken in your Instant Pot, and the result is dry meat. If you accidentally cook your chicken for too long, I recommend dicing or shredding it up to be used in soups or casseroles.

How do you know when chicken is cooked in an Instant Pot? ›

Open the pot, then use a digital thermometer to check the thickest part of a piece of chicken—it should be at least 165oF. If the chicken is not quite up to temperature, put the lid back on with the vent closed and cook for another minute or two.

What is the white stuff on my Instant Pot chicken? ›

The white substance is actually protein, known as albumin, that is released during the cooking process. It is completely safe to consume and is a natural occurrence in chicken.

Is it better to pressure cook or slow cook chicken? ›

Well, it really depends on what you're making. The Instant Pot cooks chicken much faster than its non-pressure counterparts, but the resulting texture isn't going to be the same as what you'd get with a slow cooker or Dutch oven.

Can chicken still be pink after pressure cooking? ›

Color does not indicate doneness. The USDA further explains that even fully cooked poultry can sometimes show a pinkish tinge in the meat and juices. This is particularly true of young chickens whose bones and skin are still very permeable.

How long should I pressure can raw chicken? ›

Once you're getting 4 “jiggles” per minute, or your dial gauge has come up to pressure, start your timer and process the chicken. If you're canning pint jars, you will process them for 1 hour 15 minutes (75 minutes). If you're using quart jars, you will process for 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes).

What causes chicken to have a rubbery texture? ›

Leaving chicken in a pan, oven, or grill for just a little too long can suck the moisture right out and leave you with a dry, rubbery bird. Without moisture, the protein fibers in the chicken become elastic. The types of chicken you buy at the store can also make a difference.
