Cuffed Jeans: The 2 Ways I'm Wearing Them (2024)

My newest jean obsession is wide-leg cuffed jeans. The style is surprisingly chic and surprisingly easy to wear. And cuffed jeans feel current and fresh. I love them.

I did a cuffed jeans try-on a bit ago and came away with the AGOLDE Clara as the winner for my body type (this shade, so pretty, too.)

Don’t be confused by the “low slung” in the name, they’re a solid mid-rise option and hit just below my belly button for a perfect, comfy, non-smushing-of-inner-organs type fit.

But have no fear, they are also still cute on the butt. AND they work with flat shoes. The unicorn of jeans? I think maybe so!

And for a similar jean at a lower price point? I can’t speak to the fit, but from the look of the pics and videos online, these Madewell wide leg jeans would be a good alternative, but perhaps lighter in both wash and weight.

When I invest in something new, I know I need to make it work with a variety of my closet favorites. I rarely keep one-hit wonders in my wardrobe anymore, especially when it comes to trying these new jean shapes/styles out. So if I can’t style up the piece multiple ways easily, it’s not a keeper.

The sweet spot for me in any outfit is combining casual + stylish + interesting (with a pinch of sporty + a pinch of classic.) But, let me be clear that I’m always going after chic-casual, not boring or sloppy casual.

What’s funny about this new obsession is I’ve not really ever been a big fan of most wide leg jeans on my frame. But there’s something about the wide cuff here…it adds that interesting element I’m looking for without being fussy.

I haven’t been all that excited about putting on jeans until I started playing with this trend.

Outfit 1: Vest + Baseball Cap + Low Profile adidas Sneakers

Tried + Tested: I wore a similar outfit to this in Palm Springs last month and now it’s become truly a favorite combo. I like it both with low profile sneakers and flat sandals in a neutral shade (these are my favs.) Stay tuned for more deets on this process but I use this to make sure my cuffs stay put.

More Outfit Notes: Vests are my go-to for spring and summer and are so much more interesting (see, there it is again) than a tank to me. Finding a vest that fits you properly is the key and it takes a little trying but is SO worth it. Alex Mill make some of my favorite vests, as does anthropologie. The key if you have a wider rib cage/torso/bust like me, size up. Reformation also has some really cute vests this year, too.

Also, I freaking LOVE this little bag that’s under $70 at Nordstrom. It gives that denim on denim look here while still providing some interest and contrast. I love the denim bag trend but wasn’t sure I wanted to spend hundreds yet on it. This one is a great size and interesting shape that adds that little finishing touch to this outfit.

Outfit 2: Breezy Silk Top + Flat Sandals + Silver Bag

Shirt Details: For this outfit combo, I popped on one of my very favorite blouses (and I’m honestly not really a blouse person, friends.) This Everlane Washable Clean Silk Box Shirt is a most-worn item for me. It’s soft and pretty and breezy but not fussy in how it fits or feels. I love it. TTS in the sleeves but plenty of room in the torso here.

I like how the bottom panel on the top mirrors the wide leg cuff on the jeans, too. It was a happy accident but one that works well. I wear this top so much partly because it hits at the perfect spot at my waist and balances out the wide legs with its boxy cut. I can’t recommend this shirt enough. Love!

More Outfit Notes: I like that the shine of the patent leather sandals and the metallic bag help elevate this jeans look a bit. Want to be eye-catching without having to dress up too much? Little details like these are a great way to achieve that.

Bracelet stacks and layering necklaces are more tricks I use along these lines. And tinted sunnies (prescription even!) from Yes Glasses are another go-to accessory for me lately.

Simple but not boring outfits…that’s my jam, friends.

Little details like a big cuff on a jean, a little shine on a bag, a boxy breezy shirt instead of a fitted one…these are elements that are helping me love getting dressed right now when I’m still struggling with my changing body. Making stylish choices is my jam, too, and reminds me that I can always feel confident in that!
