If you want to have a little something special with your peanut butter cookies you could always serve them up with something extra, like one of these that we like to add occasionally:

  • Warm the cookie and add a scoop of ice cream
  • Put chocolate syrup and whipped cream on top and make a sundae

What You Need

This recipe only calls for 3 ingredients and it is so easy to put together and make, especially with the Air Fryer. I like that I know exactly what is going into my cookies and it's not over the top ingredients. It couldn't be any easier and you'll have dessert in just minutes.

  • Peanut Butter
  • Sugar
  • Egg

How to Make Peanut Butter Cookies in the Air Fryer

Step 1
Mix the peanut butter, sugar and egg until you have a creamy consistency, do not over mix.

Step 2
Cover the bottom of the Air Fryer basket with parchment paper.

Step 3
Drop the cookie dough in rounded teaspoons full onto the air fryer parchment paper. If desired, use a fork to mash marks onto the tops of the cookies.

Step 4
Put the basket into your air fryer and cook at 400 degrees for 4-7 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown.

Step 5
Remove the basket from the Air Fryer but leave the cookies in the basket to cool a minute or two before removing them.

Enjoy!

Tips

No need to preheat the air fryer. These cookies work perfectly without preheating.

Check the cookies because not all Air Fryers cook the same. You don't want to overcook them.

Allow the cookies to cool in the basket for a minute or two before transferring them to a cooling rack. They'll crumble if you try to move them too soon.

Using parchment paper keeps the cookie dough from seeping into the basket, and also helps with easy cleanup.

Storage

Store leftover peanut butter cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days.

Freeze leftover peanut butter cookies by allowing them to cool, then stack and store them in an airtight container for up to a month. To reheat, allow them to thaw at room temperature before serving.

FAQs:

How can you tell when the Air Fryer Peanut Butter cookies are done?

You want to cook them until the edges are a light brown, don't overcook them or they will fall apart.

Why do you put fork marks in peanut butter cookies?

You don't have to do this, it is something that each person may or may not do but it started because the original Pillsbury recipe they instructed to press the cookies with fork tines. The reason is that peanut butter cookie dough is dense and unpressed, each cookie may not cook evenly.

What brand of peanut butter should I use?

You can use any brand that you prefer but I do suggest using a brand name for the consistency. It is best to use a regular creamy peanut butter and not the natural type of peanut butter for making cookies.

How long do I leave air fryer cookies in the basket to cool?

Once cookies are baked, leave them in the basket for a minute or two before removing them to a cooling rack. Removing the cookies from the air fryer right after cooking will cause them to crumble as they will be soft from the cooking process.

I noticed that your parchment paper has holes in it. Is this necessary?

    • Air Fryer Peanut Butter Cookies (17)Jen West

I purchased pre-cut parchment paper with holes to allow air to still circulate through the paper. You don't have to purchase precut parchment, but I would add a few holes for the air to circulate. 🙂

Hi Susan. I added a link in the post. I order mine online, and they have round or square depending on your basket. Thank you!

On the peanut butter cookies I noticed there’s no flour added. Is this correct? Just the three ingredients

These came out scrumptious! I have a Gourmia air fryer/toaster oven and 360 degrees for 8-9 minutes was perfect. I've made them twice already.

Incredibly well written post and recipe. I wish I could post a picture with ‘nailed it’. Brown on outside, gooey on inside. Can’t eat them due to raw egg :/ 400* air fry for 5 mins.

Hi Chelsea! What air fryer are you using? One of the things we always mention is that you want to try this with your brand of air fryer. For instance, this recipe is made with a Cosori 5.8qt air fryer that uses 1700 watts. You would want to always TEST the recipe with your air fryer and adjust the time and temp accordingly. Glad you figured out what worked best for your brand of air fryer.

Sadly, it didn’t work. Not sure why I thought I could make air fryer PB cookies. Will probably stick to making them in the oven. Sad since this the first ‘official’ thing apart from frozen oven chips I made in my air fryer (which I got for Christmas). Cooked at 392F/200C (as hot as my air fryer gets) and misread the recipe and cooked them longer, maybe or 7 mins?
They were brown on top, bordering burnt where the fork marks were. But the insides were raw. Stuck a fork underneath them to pick them up and I had mixture come off. The only difference is I used natural PB as it’s all I had but that shouldn’t make them raw in the middle??

The type of peanut butter could be the issue. The other issue is that you could be using a different air fryer and your cook time and temp may need to vary slightly. There are so many different brands, and they all cook differently. I use the Cosori 5.8qt Air Fryer if that helps.

I have used this recipe as my stand by Peanut Butter cookies for 45+ years, of course back then I baked them in the oven. Can’t wait to try them in the air fryer!

Will the dough be super sticky I want to use it with a cookie cutter/mould.

    Reply

    • Air Fryer Peanut Butter Cookies (26)Jen West

I didn't feel like mine was super sticky, and I did use parchment paper to place them on. I am assuming you can use a cutter or mold for these, too. 🙂

What can I substitute for parchment paper?

If your air fryer allows foil, you can use foil. Just check your user manual and make sure you can before you do it. 🙂

I have made these for years and years. My kindergarten class loved the PB pizza. They got to decorate their own slice. However, since I got my AF I tried using stevia....horrible. Crumbly, and dry. Just an FYI.

Delicious dough but major fail in the air fryer. They were burnt on top and not cooked underneath at ALL after 4 mins then same after 3 mins. Lowered temp to 325 for 6 mins. Still not cooked all the way through but not burnt on top. 325 for 8 mins for the win. We are using a Ninja DualZone. Just one side cooking with parchment and the insert to allow air underneath.

Yea, it's a little tricky when using a different air fryer. I believe the Ninja is has more wattage than the Cosori we used with this recipe. It's why we always say you may have to adjust the temp and time to get it just right if you're using a different brand. Glad you were able to get it to finally work with your Ninja! 🙂
